Yevgenia has extensive experience litigating complex insurance coverage claims. She has advised insurers regarding primary and excess policies, including commercial general liability, professional liability, and employment practices liability. Yevgenia’s practice at Atheria Law is concentrated on representing insurers in respect of technology, media, intellectual property and privacy claims, including privacy breaches and data security. Yevgenia co-authored an article entitled “Driverless Vehicles and the Effect on Insurance,” published in DRI For The Defense, May 2016, and has presented at continuing education sessions on long-tail liability claims. Yevgenia received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles and her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law.
Amanda represents insurers in claims involving cyber and privacy issues, including data and security breaches, cyber extortion, regulatory penalties, media liability, and consumer lawsuits. She also has significant experience litigating insurance coverage cases involving various types of insurance policies, including CGL, E&O and D&O policies. Amanda has litigated cases in jurisdictions throughout the U.S. which provides her with a unique perspective that allows her to better serve her clients. As a working mother, Amanda is passionate about supporting local working mothers’ groups and mentoring other working parents in their career development. She received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania and her J.D. from University of Miami (magna cum laude), where she graduated Order of the Coif.
Andrew’s passion for global affairs and technology led him to a career in the privacy industry, where he advises London and U.S. insurers on matters including cybersecurity, data breach, business interruption and intellectual property. Before going to law school, Andrew was involved in various nonprofit ventures around the world, including pursuing educational reform in Rwanda, working as part of the Crisis Response Team at Amnesty International in Sydney, Australia and engaging in lobbying efforts closer to home, in Olympia, Washington, on behalf of environmental interests. Andrew received his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law, where he was Research Editor for Law Review, and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Brett represents insurers in claims involving technology errors and omissions, media liability, cyber/privacy, data breach, and intellectual property. He also has litigation experience in various areas of law, which he uses to inform his coverage practice. He received his J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Bill concentrates in the area of professional liability insurance coverage and litigation. In addition, he defends insurers and reinsurers in complex insurance coverage actions and arbitrations. Bill has counseled and represented insurers and reinsurers on policies involving lawyers’ liability; insurance for architects, engineers and other design professionals; media and technology; entertainment industry errors and omissions; contingency insurance; sports cancellation insurance; space and satellite insurance; project insurance; employment practices liability; D&O insurance; accountants’ professional liability; sports disability; general liability; property insurance; and judge’s professional liability. He received his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University.
Andrew is an IAPP Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) and represents London and U.S. insurers with a focus in technology, media, and privacy matters. His work includes providing insurance coverage evaluation, risk mitigation, and litigation management on matters involving databreaches, consumer privacy class actions, intellectual property disputes, and regulatory investigations. Andrew previously spent six years litigating business and insurance disputes, including at the appellate level. He received his J.D. from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, and his Bachelor of Arts (magna cum laude) in Business Economics and Accounting from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Tammy represents insurers in respect of technology, media, intellectual property, privacy, and D&O claims. Tammy advises on data breaches, ransomware/cyber extortion, data loss, phishing, and fraudulent wire transfer incidents, as well as complex litigation matters concerning consumer, business, and regulatory claims. Prior to her law firm life, Tammy clerked for the Honorable James A. Yates at the New York Supreme Court, Commercial Division, and then for the Honorable Timothy J. Bommer at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California. Tammy received her J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law, where she was on Law Review, and her Bachelor of Arts (magna cum laude) from the University of California, Berkeley.
Alyssa practices in the area of data breach and cybersecurity risk insurance law. As coverage counsel, she focuses on privacy regulations, data protection, and information security issues. Alyssa counsels clients on breach response, litigation management, and regulatory defense matters. Prior to joining Atheria, Alyssa leveraged her experience as an intern at the FTC’s Consumer Protection Bureau and on Twitter’s Trust & Safety team in her role at a privacy consulting firm. There, she used her subject matter expertise to advise clients on GDPR and CCPA issues and provide insights on implementing privacy compliance programs, drafting privacy notices, and developing information security policies and incident response procedures. Alyssa also is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) and volunteers as the Events Committee Co-Lead for Women in Security and Privacy (WISP). Her involvement in these organizations provides her the opportunity to foster her education outside of the office by attending industry events such as DEF CON and the Privacy Security and Risk (PSR) conference.
Aishlin advises insurers in connection with errors and omissions and cyber security policies issued to professionals, including law firms, accountants, and real estate professionals. She represents insurers in connection with a broad range of coverages, including general liability, employment practices, and management liability policies. Aishlin also has experience counseling law firms and lawyers regarding risk management, representing insurers in coverage disputes, and defending professionals in malpractice actions. She received her J.D. (cum laude) from University of California, Hastings College of the Law and her Bachelor of Arts (magna cum laude) from Saint Mary’s College of California.
Joan represents insurers in respect of technology, media, intellectual property and privacy claims, including involving data security and privacy breaches. Her team has worked on thousands of data breach incidents of all sizes and types, ranging from single individual matters to the largest healthcare, retail, hospitality, education, and government incidents reported. She has counseled insurers and their insureds in professional liability matters involving lawyers, architects, engineers, and miscellaneous errors and omissions risks. Joan has been passionate about diversity and inclusion throughout her career, and is proud to have mentored and promoted many diverse attorneys and staff over the years. Susannah represents insurers in claims involving cyber and privacy issues, including data and security breaches. She has significant experience litigating insurance coverage cases involving various types of insurance policies, including CGL, Property, E&O and D&O policies. Susannah has litigated complex cases in state and federal superior and appellate courts in California, as well as jurisdictions throughout the U.S. She emphasizes achieving client goals in a creative and efficient manner. Prior to her legal career, Ms. Eichele spent several years negotiating advertising campaigns for one of the nation’s largest wireless companies. Susannah received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Irvine and her J.D. from Loyola Law School Los Angeles.
Jillian counsels London and U.S. insurers on all aspects of coverage and monitoring with respect to data protection and privacy, including matters arising out of data breaches, data loss, business interruption, and cyberattacks. Jillian received her J.D. from Whittier Law School and her Bachelor of Arts from California State University, Fullerton.
Kevin represents insurers in technology, media, intellectual property and cyber/privacy claims, including involving errors and omissions claims, and data security and privacy breaches. He enjoys assisting insurers in developing and implementing successful claims resolution strategies. Kevin served as in-house coverage counsel for an insurer, has worked for private law firms representing domestic and European insurers and has significant experience in insurance coverage analysis and litigation in matters involving cyber, general liability, business automobile and professional liability policies, catastrophic injury, and environmental and toxic tort litigation. He received his J.D. from Cornell Law School (cum laude) with a concentration in trial advocacy and his Bachelor of Arts (cum laude) from Pomona College.
Karen represents London market and domestic insurers in connection with claims involving technology, media and privacy matters. In 2017 and again in 2018, Karen was seconded to a domestic insurer where she handled general and professional liability claims. She also has experience litigating insurance coverage cases involving various types of insurance policies, including CGL, E&O and D&O policies. She received her Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of California, Santa Barbara and her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School.
Julie represents insurers in respect of technology, media, intellectual property, privacy and D&O claims. She has particular focus and experience with complex and high-stakes class action claims in technology and media areas such as IP, defamation, software implementation, advertising, consumer privacy, and right of publicity litigation. Julie is champion for diversity, inclusion and belonging in the workplace, and actively is involved in numerous organizations that support and provide opportunities to underrepresented groups in the legal profession. She is a true believer that diverse organizations perform better in every way. Felicia is an experienced litigator who now concentrates her practice on privacy and technology insurance issues. Felicia’s strong litigation background includes the supervision of complex cases from inception through trial, and she also has worked with Fortune 500 companies to develop nationwide litigation strategies for novel legal issues in the online commerce space. She advises on matters concerning all aspects of cyber insurance coverage, including incident response and the defense of regulatory investigations and consumer lawsuits. She received her J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, where she was Chief Editor, Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Team. Felicia received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Irvine.
David concentrates on counseling professional liability insurers and their insureds in matters involving up to billions of U.S. dollars in claimed damages. His professional liability practice includes complex matters across six continents, involving some of the largest architectural and engineering firms in the world. He received his J.D. from Vanderbilt University School of Law and his Bachelor of Science (summa cum laude) from the University of Alabama.
Jessica counsels insurers in connection with errors and omission policies issued to professionals, including attorneys, accountants, and other business advisors. She represents insurers in connection with a broad range of coverages, including professional liability, general liability, employment practices, and management liability policies. Jessica also counsels law firms and lawyers regarding risk management, representing insurers in coverage disputes, and defending professionals in malpractice actions. EJ focuses her practice on advice and monitoring of cyber and data breaches and resulting consumer lawsuits and regulatory investigations. She represents insurers and counsels clients on initial intake, incident investigation and incident response on data security and privacy breaches as well as on related consumer lawsuits and regulatory investigations. EJ also advises insurers and monitors litigation involving technology and media. EJ has significant litigation experience, having litigated complex insurance coverage disputes, class actions and commercial business disputes for nearly 10 years. Andrew has also represented insurers in connection general liability and property insurance policies. Josh represents and advises cyber insurers regarding coverage for losses and claims arising from breach events of all sizes, and helps facilitate front-line incident response. Josh has more than a decade of experience representing insurers in insurance coverage disputes, including litigation arising out of disputes over the nature and extent of insurance coverage, insurance bad faith, equitable contribution between co-insurers, and equitable subrogation between primary and excess insurers. He received his J.D. from the University of California at Davis, School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Philosophy from the University of California at Davis.
Nick counsels insurers in connection with professional liability policies issued to design professionals. His global practice regularly includes complex matters in which the amount at issue exceeds $1 billion. He represents insurers, and often entire insurance towers, in all aspects of insurance coverage, including the evaluation of coverage, risk/liability analysis of the underlying dispute, and settlement negotiation. Tina advises insurers with respect to complex claims reported under policies issued to design professionals doing business globally. Tina’s practice is resolution-focused, and she has negotiated multi-million dollar claims and coverage disputes for close to 20 years. Jake concentrates his practice in the professional liability insurance coverage and monitoring space. His notable experience includes assessing coverage and advising insurers regarding large data breach incidents, regulatory liabilities, and consumer class-action litigation impacting the healthcare, hospitality, and technology sectors, as well as significant business interruption losses impacting manufacturers and service providers. Michael received his J.D. (magna cum laude) from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and his Bachelor of Arts (cum laude) from Saint Mary’s College of California.
Matt represents US and London market insurers with respect to technology, media, intellectual property and privacy claims. Matt focuses his practice on cyber security and data breaches, including phishing incidents, cyber extortion/ransomware and fraudulent wire incidents. He also advises insurers with respect to third party claims involving consumer class action litigation, business interruption losses and regulatory investigations. Matt received his J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law (cum laude) where he was an Intellectual Property Certificate recipient. Chris primarily represents insurers in respect of cyber security, data breaches, and privacy matters. He has worked on hundreds of data breach incidents of all sizes and types, ranging from individual SME matters to some of the largest incidents reported. Chris also advises insurers in respect of technology and media risks, including intellectual property, software implementation, and advertising litigation. He has prior experience counseling insurers regarding general liability, professional liability, and miscellaneous errors and omissions risks. He holds both an M.B.A. and a J.D. (cum laude) from Washington University in St. Louis, from which he graduated in 2011. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science (cum laude) from the University of Southern California in 2006.
Chris is licensed to practice before all California state and federal district courts. He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US), Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E), and a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). He also is a member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS), the Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF), and Bay Area Lawyers for Individual Freedom (BALIF).
Nikki counsels insurers in connection with errors and omission policies issued to professionals, including attorneys, accountants, and other business advisors. She began her legal career as a litigator litigating commercial disputes. Nikki is passionate about pro bono work and giving back to the community and she led her office’s pro bono program at her former firm. She received her J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts (cum laude) from Boston College.
Cory advises and represents insurers on policies involving lawyers’ and accountants’ liability, errors and omissions, employment practices liability, cyber liability, D&O insurance, and general liability insurance. He received his J.D. from UCLA School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts (magna cum laude) from Gonzaga University. While in law school, he served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Larry Burns, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.
Christina focuses her practice on technology, IP and privacy law. She represents insurers on a broad range of issues and in claims brought against technology and media companies. She also counsels clients regarding data security and privacy breaches, including evaluation, the issuance of breach notification letters, regulatory investigations, and handling of consumer lawsuits. A major focus for Christina is on working with insurers on the development of new insurance programs and manuscripted coverages for evolving cyber security and data breach risks. Matthew represents insurers in the areas of cyber security, data breach, and privacy claims. He advises clients regarding first and third-party coverage triggered by various cyber incidents, including data breaches, cyber extortion, ransomware, regulatory investigations, and resulting data and business interruption losses. Before joining Atheria, Matthew practiced family law litigation. Prior to practicing law, Matthew was a professional dancer and choreographer. He choreographed and appeared in numerous music videos, commercials, live productions, and television shows, including “So You Think You Can Dance – Poland” (“Po Prostu Tancz”) and an Apple iPod campaign. Matthew is also a SoulCycle instructor. Matthew received his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law and received his Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of California at Los Angeles.
Chris advises insurers in connection with errors and omissions policies issued to a variety of professionals including but not limited to architects, engineers, and other design professionals. In addition to professional liability insurance, Chris advises both domestic and London-based insurers in connection with general liability policies. He gained significant litigation and insurance coverage experience as an associate at a prominent local insurance coverage firm in the Bay Area. Chris received his J.D. from the Chapman University, Fowler School of Law in 2014, and his B.A. from the University of California, Irvine.
Based in England, Charlotte provides legal advice to insurers with respect to technology, media, intellectual property, and privacy claims under cyber liability, technology, media and professional liability policies. She is dual-qualified and specialises in handling data privacy and cyber security incidents involving U.S. and UK global corporations and SMEs. Charlotte also regularly advises insurers on the development of new U.S. and UK cyber insurance products. She is a member of the California bar (2009) and a solicitor of England and Wales (2017), as well as a Certified Information Privacy Professional for both Europe and the U.S. Charlotte also holds an LLM in European Legal Studies and a Master of Arts (Honours) from Glasgow University. She received her Graduate Diploma in Law from the College of Law (2004) and was called to the Bar of England and Wales by the Honourable Society of Middle Temple (2005) (Blackstone Entrance Exhibition (2003), Harmsworth Scholarship (2003), Queen Mother’s Scholarship (2004)).
Before working for Atheria Law, Timothy received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley. Timothy became interested in the field of law at a young age, spending his high school summers volunteering at the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office. He is currently working on furthering his career in the legal field and has plans to go to law school.
Before becoming a paralegal, Leilani received her B.S. in Kinesiology with an emphasis on Exercise, Nutrition, and Wellness from California State University, East Bay. As a paralegal, Leilani has experience with litigation, intellectual property, and cyber insurance. When Leilani isn’t hard at work, she competes in domestic and international endurance races.
Nicole is an experienced Executive Assistant supporting senior partners in the technology, media and privacy/cyber area. Prior to joining Atheria Law, Nicole worked with the team at the global law firm Clyde & Co. She also has worked with executives in the health and technology industries, and spent ten years working with a Chicago-based law firm specializing in intellectual property. Nicole is from the Bay Area and received her B.S. from the University of Illinois.
Ron manages all aspects of finance for Atheria Law. During his 15 years of finance experience working with global law firms, he has developed an expertise in handling the billing and e-billing requirements for London Market and domestic insurers.
Jami supports the professional liability practice group, and focuses on complex claims reported under policies issued to professional-service firms. She received her J.D. from Creighton Law School and Bachelor of Science from Wayne State College.
Before joining the team, Destynee obtained her Bachelor’s at Howard University in Washington D.C. studying Business Administration with a concentrate in Pre-Law. During her time at the university, she interned and then became a full time Legal Assistant for the United States Senate on Capitol Hill. Apart from her education and legal work background, Destynee has 21 years of experience as a dancer and instructor with different dance styles including ballet, jazz technique, hip hop, etc.; she also enjoys playing basketball and softball. During her free time out of the office, she loves traveling to different countries, trying new cuisines, and checking things off her bucket list.
Autumn is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University, where she double majored in Women’s Studies and Sociology. She then completed her post-graduate education at Cal State University, Long Beach, where she received her Master’s degree in Public Policy and Administration. Before joining Atheria Law, Autumn worked as an administrator / paralegal at a law firm specializing in education advocacy for families with special needs children in Los Angeles. Outside of work, Autumn is a foodie who loves to cook and to travel around the world.
Prior to joining, Chriszayda was an Office Administrator for a global international firm with background experience in the HR, Accounting and Facilities departments with over 12 years of office experience. Chriszayda grew up in San Francisco and enjoys going to various sports games in her free time.
Christine Mardigras has over 25 years of accounting experience. Before joining Atheria Law, Christine worked for a Global law firm. During her free time, she enjoys cooking, gardening, traveling and spending time with family.
Before joining Atheria Law, Stephanie spent the past six years working in the criminal courts working closely with prosecutors and victims of crime. She is a Bay Area native and received her Bachelor of Science Degree from San Jose State University where she studied Sociology and Criminology. Stephanie also obtained her Paralegal Studies certificate from San Francisco State University in 2016. In Stephanie’s free time, you can find her at Soul Cycle, hiking, or spending time with her family and friends.
Vic supports a team of attorneys who focus on technology, privacy and data security. Prior to joining the team at Atheria, Vic worked at a boutique business law firm consulting with attorneys on developing IT and data systems. Outside of the office, Vic spends most of his time on writing for open mic nights or on personal graphic design projects. Vic graduated San Francisco State University in 2016 with degrees in Political Science and English (Linguistics).
Lena has 13 years of experience as a Legal Secretary and Paralegal in civil litigation, specializing in insurance coverage defense, probate law, warranty coverage and products liability. In 2007, Lena earned her B.S. in Justice Studies with minors in Legal Studies and Business from San Jose State University, and her Paralegal Studies Certificate in 2008 from De Anza College. She is a Bay Area native and enjoys nature, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.
Julie obtained her bachelor’s degree from San Jose State University studying Industrial and Organizational Psychology with a minor in Human Resource Management. Julie has twenty years of human resource experience, with the bulk of her career spent in employee relations management at a large nationwide men’s retailer. More recently she served as an HR consultant to a portfolio of smaller companies. She received her PHRca certification from the Human Resource Certification Institute. During her free time, she is an avid interior decorator and enjoys gardening, wine tasting and spending time with her family.
Uly supports the Technology, Media & Privacy team. He is a Bay Area native and received his Bachelor of Arts in Politics from the University of San Francisco in 2015. Prior to joining Atheria, Uly worked in patent and trademark prosecution, employment law, and in the California State Assembly. Outside of work, Uly can be found hiking through redwood trees, cooking family recipes to fill his larger than life appetite, or writing a poems to one day put in a book. He is excited to further his legal career in the world of cyber Insurance, and aspires to pursue a J.D.
Prior to Yolanda joining Atheria as a Senior Client Account Specialist, she worked in the finance department of a global law firm handling both billing and collections, and gaining extensive knowledge of both the London Market and domestic insurance market. Yolanda has over 14 years of experience in legal billing and collections.
Desiree is a Legal Assistant supporting the Los Angeles attorneys through the monitoring and tracking of technology, media and data breach matters.
Marisa supports the professional liability practice group. She previously worked at a firm that provides coverage and monitoring services to global and domestic insurers where she was a paralegal in the employment practices liability group. She also has experience providing litigation support for attorneys specializing in intellectual property. Marisa graduated with honors from Pepperdine University and has a B.A. in English with a concentration in writing and rhetoric.
Gabrielle is an experienced Executive Assistant supporting the technology, privacy and cyber practice group. Prior to joining Atheria Law, Gabrielle worked with the team at the global law firm, Clyde & Co. She has over twenty years’ experience providing high level administrative support to senior executives in legal, higher education and non-profit environments. Gabrielle received her M.F.A. in Creative Writing from The New School and B.F.A. from NYU. After a decade in the San Francisco Bay Area, Gabrielle returned to her native New York and currently resides in the beautiful Hudson Valley. Outside of work, Gabrielle spends her time writing, cooking and gardening.
Michelle is a licensed paralegal and assists attorneys in their representation of insurers with regard to technology-based error and omission, media, data and privacy breach, and intellectual property claims. Michelle previously worked with most of the Atheria team for over five years at Clyde & Co. Although a lifelong Bay Area native, Michelle attended CSU Northridge where she earned a B.A. in Political Science, and continued her education at UCLA to receive her Paralegal Certificate. Outside of work, Michelle can be found spending time with her family and baking.
Brittney is a Legal Assistant providing support to international and domestic insurer clients through her monitoring and tracking of technology, media and data breach matters. Personal accountability, integrity and due diligence are paramount to Brittney’s handling of a high-volume case load.
Brittney continues to be passionate about the study of history since her first lesson at 8 years old. In 2017, she received a B.A. in History from San Francisco State University, where her studies began to focus on U.S. legal history. She continues her education at California State University – East Bay where she is pursuing a certificate in Paralegal Studies.
Apart from continued independent historical legal study, Brittney enjoys nature hikes, ‘de-trashing’ public parks, and traveling the U.S. (41 states down, 9 more to go!).
Cynthia is an experienced Executive Assistant supporting the professional liability Lawyers and Architects & Engineers teams. Cynthia has worked with the same team of attorneys founding Atheria Law for twenty years assisting with all aspects of practice and client support. Cynthia earned her paralegal degree in 2014. She is from the Bay Area and enjoys volunteering for various organizations, the arts and the exploring the delicious food scene.
